Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max to Launch with Custom 48MP IMX903 Sensor and a Periscope Camera

Rumors surrounding the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max suggest groundbreaking improvements in camera technology and innovative design features. According to information shared by @digitalchatstation, the flagship smartphone may house a customized 48MP 1/1.14-inch Sony IMX903 primary sensor, incorporating a double-layer transistor build. 

With a 14-bit ADC and DCG support, this camera aims to deliver superior image quality compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Enhancing the photography experience, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will also feature a periscope telephoto lens. 

Moreover, the new Pro Max addition brings a subtle yet noticeable design shift as the screen's edge curvature increases, creating a slightly comfortable grip. The iPhone 16 Pro is anticipated to sport a 6.3-inch display, while the larger Pro Max variant will boast a substantial 6.9-inch screen.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo adds to the speculations, suggesting that the iPhone 16 Pro series might adopt 1MG+7P molded glass-plastic for its camera sensors. Major imaging upgrades are expected for the iPhone's latest flagship model, incorporating dual 48MP sensors and a 12MP telephoto lens.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature a 120mm tetra-prism telephoto shooter, similar to its predecessor. Skipping the current year, front cameras across the iPhone 17 series models are due for improvement, with a 24MP sensor and a 6P lens.

Apple also plans to introduce a novel camera button code-named Nova to enhance video recording with its new products. Maintaining the premium construction of the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will utilize five titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) chassis. 

Performance-wise, the iPhone 16 Pro series might incorporate the A18 Pro chip, Wi-Fi 7 support, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X75 modem, ensuring 5G download speeds of up to 7.5Gbps. Rumors suggest a graphene-based battery with a 3355mAh capacity and up to 40W input.
