iPhone 17 Launch Date Narrowed Down in New Report; Here’s What to Expect

Last year’s iPhone 16 series was unveiled on September 9, and Apple plans to debut the next iPhone 17 lineup on the same day. Mark Gurman recently reported that the launch event might happen on September 8, 9, or 10. Building on that, a report from Germany exposed the entire timeline for iPhone 17 release.

Mark Gurman was technically the first person to reveal the launch schedule. Back in July, he suggested that the iPhone 17 series might go official in the second week of September. A report from iPhone-ticker in Germany has set the record straight by giving the exact date.

Anonymous sources from German network carriers have claimed that the next Apple event will happen on Tuesday, September 9. iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be unveiled there. These devices will be shipped to the initial batch of counties 10 days later.

From what we gathered from this report regarding the Apple iPhone new models, the official sales will not begin until Friday, September 19. This is a familiar pattern. Last year’s iPhone 16 lineup was pushed to the stores on the 20th day of the launch month. We won’t be surprised if it happens again this year.

Of all the new iPhones, we are most curious to see the iPhone 17 Air, which has the thinnest design ever made by Apple. You might have heard already that it’s replacing the “Plus” model in the lineup. It was consistently the worst-selling device over generations, so Apple may have decided to retire it. 

Will the iPhone 17 Air do a better job at sales than the Plus? That’s up for debate. Most believe the razor-thin device isn’t a suitable replacement for the iPhone Plus, as it sacrifices battery life and camera quality to achieve that alleged 5.5mm profile.

We only have a single 48MP sensor here, and the battery used on this device will be limited to 2900mAh. Daily driving the iPhone 17 Air will be a challenge.
