New Redmi Note 8 2021 Goes Official; Here are the Chipset, Design, and Display Specifications

Xiaomi's promotional campaign for the upcoming Redmi Note 8 2021 just ended with the phone going official. It was unclear until now if Xiaomi will be repurposing the original build of the Note 8, but the product listing on the global website abundantly confirms just that. Here's everything you need to know about this newest addition to the Redmi Note family.

Since the new 2021 model only differs from the old Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 in its chipset, we're still looking at a 6.3" notched screen flanked by a minimal chin. Although not formally detailed, we know that this is an IPS LCD that delivers a crisp full HD resolution. Compact phones have all but vanished in 2021, so this blast from the past is the only small-ish phone in Xiaomi’s current-gen lineup.

Xiaomi has resurrected the phone’s shell with the same abstract pattern, pill-box camera housing, and rear-facing fingerprint scanner. It comes in three colorways — Space Black, Neptune Blue, and Moonlight White.

The only big highlight of the Redmi Note 8 2021 is its chip. The new edition has lost the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series silicon and replaced it with the Helio G85. The budget gaming platform from MediaTek would ensure the handset to be more affordable in the Xiaomi price list.

Another hardware bump worth noting is the faster charging speeds offered by the 22.5W charger in the box. That said, the phone is still capped at 18W, powering its 4000 mAh battery. Naturally, the latest Android11-based MIUI runs on the Note 8 2021.

The camera system on the Note 8 2021 remains untouched as well. A quad-camera rests inside the lengthy housing, featuring a 48MP wide lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and two 2MP depth-mapping and macro sensors. No pricing details have been shared yet.
