Oppo Reno5 F Unveiled With a Mid-range Price, Mild Redesign, and Trimmed Features

A new edition was just added to Oppo’s ever-growing line of Reno5 phones. Following the Oppo Reno5, Pro, Pro+, and Lite, the latest Reno5 F is a trimmed-down variant of the Reno5. The phone has been announced in Africa, and it’s available for pre-order there.

Oppo Reno 5F is currently listed on Oppo Kenya’s website. Its landing page details the battery features and pricing, but the full specification sheet won’t be released until the phone hits stores — slated for late March.

When contrasted against the current Reno5 series, the Reno5 F has a mildly refreshed design. The phone’s quad-camera resides in a squarish platform that resembles the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s. Its shell (likely made of plastic) has a curved profile, available in Fluid Black and Fantastic Purple colorways.

The screen has a mid-sized chin and a hole-punch cutout. This display is a 6.4” AMOLED panel. It’s unclear if the Reno5 F inherits the 90Hz refresh rate from the standard Reno5 but, if the Reno5 Lite edition is any guide, it likely operates at 60Hz. The selfie camera has a 32MP sensor behind it.

There’s no physical fingerprint scanner to be seen, but the Oppo Reno5 F has a 3.5mm headphone on the bottom, right next to the speaker grille and the USB-C port. The lack of a visible fingerprint scanner strongly points to an in-display solution.

The quad-camera features a predictable array: a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a set of two 2MP portrait and macro cameras. Oppo’s image-processing software supports AI color and Dual-view video modes.

Lastly, the Reno5 F is powered by a 4310 mAh battery that charges over 30W VOOC flash charge technology. It bears an Oppo mobile price tag of KES 41,999 (Rs. 60,700.) Oppo hasn’t shared the launch timeline for markets outside Africa yet. But in Kenya, they’re throwing in free TWS earbuds and a screen replacement warranty with each pre-order.
