OPPO Reno9 Design Leaks via Live-shots; Expect a Reshaped Camera Base

To further bolster the legitimacy of last week's packaging, camera, battery, and CPU stats leak, the rumor mill has once again ratted out the OPPO Reno 9 family with the help of spy images. Some live shots have appeared on the web, revealing the in-hand look and design of Reno8's successor.

Regarding the design, Reno9 plans to retain the old form factor similar to the OPPO Reno 6 Pro with the Camera island demoted to a conventional sharp-edged squarish protrusion. In contrast, Reno8 boasted a camera base melting into the top left corner, which became an identity for the Reno lineup.

Though initially exclusive to the Pro and Pro Plus variants, the punch hole on top of the screen seems to have paved its way to the vanilla model. Specs-wise, the entire Reno9 family reportedly shares the same 4500mAh battery capacity and charging speeds. With leaks picking up pace, it's safe to assume that the launch isn't far off.

Sadly, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip, a vital component of the former Reno 8 Pro, won't carry over to its successor. The brand might equip Reno9 Pro with an aged Snapdragon 778G chip. Also, the latest 5g OPPO mobile might use a 64-megapixel sensor under its primary lens, based on the leaks.

In terms of performance, the top-end Pro Plus variant of Renos will allegedly end up with MediaTek's flagship Dimensity 8000 SoC. According to DCS, the Reno descendant will set out in the Chinese market under Reno 9 Pro+ moniker. Furthermore, its rear camera should use a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, typical across Oppo's premium phones.

Furthermore, Oppo presumably wants to add a red color option within the Reno 9 family. According to rumors, the lineup should go official by November, shortly before the Oppo clamshell and foldable FIND N2 arrive (breaking cover in December).
