Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 to Feature a Slightly Bigger Battery and Efficient Chip

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is this year’s sequel to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. It’s slated for release later in the Fall, but the leaks surrounding the next flagship clamshell give us an early peek. And with the Z Flip 4, Samsung is addressing the one shortfall that has plagued the Flip line from the beginning — the poor battery life.

Courtesy of the European publication Galaxy Club, we learn that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 will rock a slightly bigger battery than its predecessor. Last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 model had a 3300 mAh battery (split into two cells.) The new battery package encases two cells too.

Reportedly listed under the model numbers “EB-BF721ABY” and “EB-BF722ABY,” the battery sizes are 2400 mAh and 903 mAh. The combined capacity comes out to 3400 mAh.

The latest Samsung flip mobile has a 100 mAh upgrade over the previous model. On its own, it won’t make too much of a difference in battery life. But the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip is built on a more power-efficient wafer. So you can expect at least an iterative improvement in battery life.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 only lasts almost six hours of uninterrupted use (most modern flagship phones survive twice as long on a single charge.) Paired with the relatively slow 15W charging support, the battery performance is far from competitive. We speculate that Samsung will also bump up the charging rate to 25W to mitigate the smallish battery size.
