Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Version Surfaces in Spy Shots Ahead of Launch

Galaxy Z Fold 8 won’t be alone this year. There will be a second Fold variant. Apparently, they are also working on the wide Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 that might have the same size and format as the iPhone Ultra. The device was found in the wild. Someone leaked images of the handset in Korea, and this is how it looks.

The name is just a placeholder, since no one actually knows the exact title of the wide foldable yet, and the company hasn’t commented on this subject either. There’s gossip that the standard Z Fold 8 will be renamed to Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. And the wider version would probably use the Galaxy Z Fold 8 title instead.

We saw the leak on the DC Inside community forum. A user posted live images of what’s presumed to be the wide Samsung new Fold mobile. The phone sat in a design-concealing case, which is a common practice in the industry. This is probably a prototype.

You must be wondering if the design is hidden in the case, how can we be sure it’s the Galaxy Z Fold 8? Well, we read the clues. The biggest giveaway is the wider and smaller form factor. There’s a triple-lens vertical camera stack on the back, so it’s obvious that it is a Samsung foldable.

The wider folding phone has sharp corners too. The Anti-leak case does its job at hiding the design, but this is definitely a new kind of Samsung foldable with some unfamiliar measurements. The best possible guess is that the newcomer in those images is a Galaxy Z Fold 8 wide version.

Before these images went viral, we had the CG renders of the same handset. And there seems to be a 7.6” screen on the wide Z Fold 8 with an almost non-existent crease in the middle. Yes, this could be the year Samsung finally decides to deal with the crease.

Oppo Find N6 made the crease almost invisible with its new hinge design this year, and no matter how many times it folds, the screen remains same as new. Samsung definitely needs to level up its hinge design for no-crease displays. Let’s wait and see if the Galaxy Z Fold 8 manages to pull it off. Keep watching the news for more updates.
