Tecno Pova Neo Announced with a Massive 6000 mAh Battery and Fast-Charging

Tecno dropped a new edition of the Pova series in Africa yesterday. Before its launch, the Tecno Pova 2 was featured in an extensive leak. So the official announcement comes without much surprise.

Tecno Pova Neo made its debut in Nigeria — one of the biggest markets for Tecno. It packs a powerful battery and fast charging, but (oddly enough) it’s not a value-friendly phone. More so, when Tecno’s sister brand Infinix is offering the competitive Note 11 series in roughly the same bracket.

First up, the display presents an unremarkable 720P resolution. It’s a 6.8” IPS LCD, featuring a standard 60Hz refresh rate but a responsive 120Hz touch sampling rate. The comparably priced Infinix Note 11 rocks a bright 1080P AMOLED screen.

The hardware inside Tecno's new Pova model aka the Neo, tells the same story. Everything runs on the MediaTek Helio P22 — a low-end budget chipset that came out in 2018. Contrast it against the modern Helio G88 at the heart of Note 11, and the Pova Neo will show its age much sooner.

Tecno promises 17 hours of uninterrupted gameplay and 15 hours of internet browsing on Neo's 6000 mAh battery. Software optimizations extend that battery life even further. When you run out, the Pova Neo supports 18W Flash Charge. You can get 12 hours of music playback out of 15 minutes of recharging.

The camera system is a standard affair for a budget Tecno phone. We’re looking at 13MP wide and 2MP portrait cameras on the back. The screen has a notch to house the 8MP front camera. No advanced photography features are seen here.

HiOS 7.6 x Android 11 power the phone. Tecno Pova Neo comes in a single 4GB+64GB configuration, starting from NGN 72,500 (~ Rs. 31,000.) You can pick from black, graphite, and blue colors.
