ZTE Nubia RedMagic 12 Pro Makes Global Debut with SD 8 Elite Extreme & RGB Liquid Cooling

ZTE Nubia RedMagic 12 Pro just got unveiled outside China. It’s mostly the same device as the original Pro+. All they did was slash the charging speed and make the shoulder triggers less sensitive. It’s also way more expensive than the older RedMagic 11 Pro. The price has gone up for all the variants.

The charging speed fell down to 80W on the global RedMagic 12 Pro versus 120W on the Chinese verison. It’s still pretty fast, though. At least they didn’t swap the battery. There’s still an 8400mAh cell stuffed into the gaming phone, which is 12% bigger than the 11 Pro’s 7500mAh.
By the way, the ZTE latest nubia mobile battery grew, but the frame shrank. It’s now 8.5mm thin. The shoulder triggers have gone down from 700Hz to 520Hz touch rate. The accuracy and responsiveness hardly change, though. It will still feel pretty snappy. Nothing else was downgraded.

RedMagic 12 Pro (global) is built around a 6.85” BOE X11 OLED that has a 1.5K resolution. This is the fastest OLED around (185Hz). It has 500Hz touch sampling with 5000Hz instantaneous touch. The bezels are just 0.96mm at their thinnest.
Apparently, the screen has 1,900 nits of global brightness. Isolated spots will sometimes hit 5000 nits in small bursts. This newcomer doesn’t have a punch hole either. They’ve installed the fastest mobile chip in the world on the RedMagic 12 Pro.

It’s a flagship gaming phone, and you get the best-of-the-best Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip. This one has a 5.01 GHz CPU. RedCore R5 gaming chip and G1 display controller work with that SoC to give you more frames. There’s LPDDR5T RAM (10,667Mbps) and UFS 4.1 Pro storage inside.

That tri-layer ICE cooling system does a great job at thermal control. Gaming phones need to remain cool under load. And that’s where the RedMagic 12 Pro actually shines. An active Cooling fan pairs with a liquid RGB cooling loop, and a huge VC chamber draws heat away from the chip. The fan spins at 25,500 rpm.
50MP (main) + 50MP (ultrawide) camera pair is planted right next to the fan. And the selfie cam is 16MP. Of course, there are two speakers on the frame. The screen has ultrasonic fingerprint ID. And the newcomer runs Android 17 from the factory. The global market has a $949 (~PKR 261,000) base price for the RedMagic 12 Pro (12/256GB).
