Apparently, they’ve gone with a Snapdragon chipset on the Galaxy A18 5G. This may be the only big change we’ll see here. We’ve come up with a preliminary spec sheet for this phone. The specs are actually from reports and leaks, all speculative, of course. They’ve fit a bigger battery on it. There’s possibly a 6000mAh cell here. 25W charging hasn’t changed. There are no camera or display upgrades to speak of. 50MP main camera and 5MP ultrawide sensors are coming to the Galaxy A18. The screen will be 6.7” and the resolution probably FHD+ 1080p. Galaxy models in this category usually end up with a 90Hz refresh rate. Stable Android 17 One UI 9 is a possibility. But it’s just as likely that they’ll reuse stable Android 16 One UI 8.5 on the newcomer by default. Xiaomi has its Redmi Note 17 lineup to pit against the Galaxy Ax8 series. Good alternative to the Galaxy A18 5G would be the vanilla Xiaomi Redmi Note 17.
