Galaxy Z TriFold was not cheap to produce in mass. The profit margins were so low that they decided to discontinue it. But there could be a future Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold 2. There has been a leak that says the TriFold 2 will be much thinner and lighter. A Korean source reported it could be almost as thin as the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That device is a bit more mature. It’s 8.9mm thin in the folded state. And it’s one of the thinnest models (unfolded) at just 4.2mm. The original TriFold had a three-split design, and its thickness came down to 12.9mm in the folded state. Trimming its depth close to 8.9mm will be a significant design upgrade. But the durability could become a concern. A tri-fold that thin could be fragile. The Naver blogger/leaker predicts a mid-2027 launch for the next Galaxy Z TriFold 2. But the unsteady release of the original TriFold leaves a big question mark. Will there even be a Galaxy Z TriFold 2? What happened with Galaxy S25 Edge could happen to this TriFold family. So it’s better to keep your expectations in check. Anyway, the gears are somewhat shifted. And they are now working on a Galaxy Z Slide prototype. That’s a small handset that expands the screen to 7” with motors. That version could see an official release in late 2027 or early 2028.
