iPhone Flip will be the company’s second folding device, and could launch after the iPhone Fold. Apple’s first will be a horizontal book-style foldable. A new report said that the Flip could arrive in 2027 on the condition that the first iPhone Fold does well in sales. They say Apple’s discussions have moved beyond the initial concept. Internal testing might include specs like the Apple A20 chip and a 6.8” OLED foldable screen with a tried-and-true LTPO 120Hz refresh rate. This is a 2027 device, so the silicon would probably be the Apple A20/A20 Pro. These are only speculative technical details. The real specs aren’t available just yet. But somethings on clamshell foldables never change, like the rear screen or the side Touch ID. Face ID remains a possibility for the iPhone Flip. We are expecting iOS 27 on the iPhone 18 series and the iPhone Fold. If the clamshell Flip comes out, you should expect the same OS on that device. Flip phones have two compartments for split batteries, yet the Galaxy Z Flip has only ever reached 4,300 mAh capacity. iPhone Flip will also play it safe and keep the cell size in the ballpark. Motorola Razr 60 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 are the true rivals for the clamshell iPhone. But this is only Apple’s first try at making a Flip phone, so don’t expect perfection here.
