Honor Robot Phone is a device with a gimbal camera, not something you see every day. And camera gurus can’t get enough of it. They have been working on this handset for ages. And they finally got to demo it at CES 2026. Robot Phone was considered a prototype in the demo stages, though. It has finally unlocked the consumer status. Honor had to shake hands with ARRI for this 4DoF gimbal system on the Robot phone. So they are not alone to take the credit. The Robot part is a lens on a gimbal support that flips out of the camera island on the back. And you can use it as the main sensor or as a selfie shooter; both directions work. There’s a protective door in the way, though. You have to slide it to access the gimbal. It will add one more step. But at least that gimbal will be tucked away safely. By the way, it’s a 3-axis stabilization system. The range of motion is good enough for buttery motion tracking. That 4DoF gimbal camera can be used when the phone is held upright or put on a flat surface. And the Honor Robot phone does have two other ordinary cameras you would have on a normal handset. It probably has a Snapdragon 8 Elite. A 120Hz 1.5K LTPO AMOLED and a 6000mAh battery might be used here. This phone could be a threat to the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. That device has the Horizon Lock system, but it’s definitely not as amazing as this 4DoF gimbal.
