The Pop series has been refreshed after two years. The latest phone is the Tecno Pop X 5G with a Dimensity 6400 SoC. This isn’t a new phone per se. It has the same design and almost identical specs to the Spark 50 5G. There’s a metal camera deco on its plastic frame. It’s an Aerospace 6-series Aluminum lens enclosure. It’s not hiding anything amazing, just a single 13MP sensor. Tecno Pop X 5G does have a punch hole for its 8MP selfie shooter. A Dimensity 6400 SoC is onboard the Tecno Pop X. That’s a 2.5 GHz platform. And its iGPU is a Mali G57. The storage is 128GB (UFS 2.2). The RAM is also quite limited here: only 4GB of memory on the base and 6GB RAM for the top variant. Tecno Pop X is built around a 6.78” IPS display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s only a 720p panel with your garden-variety 560nit brightness. We also have an IP64 rating here and a shockproof military-grade design. Pop X uses a side fingerprint ID. There’s a headphone jack and an SD card slot. Everything is run on Android 16 HiOS 16. There are more than a few AI tools in this package: AI Call Noise Cancellation and AI Eraser 2.0. You get a 6500mAh battery with this handset, and it recharges over a 45W input. It could’ve easily competed with Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G, if not for a low-end 720p IPS LCD and short software support. But if Samsung phones are not your cup of tea, the Pop X is one of the better alternatives.
