Oppo Reno 16 will be along soon. The older version is reaching the end of its cycle by April, and that may be when the Reno 16 will arrive in China. We have a preliminary spec sheet below based on reports and speculations on the web. There’s possibly a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip on this newcomer. That’s a big upgrade over Reno 15’s Dimensity 8450. AnTuTu scores on the new chip were 50% higher, and the chip itself is seen with a higher 2.8 GHz boost clock speed. There’s even a better Adreno 722 GPU here. This new platform has almost bridged the gap between the flagship and midrange. We also hear that Reno 16 will have a AMOLED, which is the tech used for ultra-thin bezels. This could still very well be a 6.32†1.5K 120Hz panel. And yes, even the Reno 16 will continue to use the very same 50MP main and a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor. There are reports of a battery upgrade, possibly a 6700mAh cell, on the Oppo Reno 16. The charging shouldn’t be any lower than 80W. They’ve kept IP rating consistent for two or three generations in a row. We assume Reno 16 will stick to the same IP69 rating for a waterproof body. It’s a premium phone, so you get a screen-laced fingerprint reader here.
Samsung Galaxy A57 will be out by the time Reno 16 debuts, and these two phones will be rivals on a global scale.
